浮世絵 Ukiyo-e Woodblock 🎴

浮世絵 Ukiyo-e Woodblock 🎴 cover

Edo-period woodblock — flat colour fields, confident key-block outlines and the texture of hand-printed washi.

浮世絵 Ukiyo-e Woodblock reproduces the classic Japanese print aesthetic: flat unmodulated colour separations, a strong sumi key-block outline, stylised waves, clouds and drapery, and the subtle paper grain and bokashi gradient of hand printing. It reads as a genuine mokuhanga print rather than a digital pastiche.

This is a LoRA adapter, not a standalone model. Load it on top of a compatible wan 2.1 base checkpoint — it will not generate on its own.

Uses

Direct use. Editorial and packaging art, poster and album work, and culturally-themed illustration wanting an authentic woodblock feel.

Out of scope. Photoreal or Western-painterly renders — the flat-colour woodblock logic dominates.

How to use

Load the adapter over your wan 2.1 checkpoint, then trigger with: ukiyo-e, woodblock

ukiyo-e, woodblock, a great wave curling over fishing boats, flat colour fields, sumi key-block outline, bokashi gradient sky, washi paper grain

Recommended LoRA weight 0.8. 0.8 preserves the flat separations; too high and the colours over-saturate past the muted mineral-pigment range.

  • Works well for — landscape and wave studies; figure prints in period dress; poster and packaging illustration.
  • Not suitable for — modern realistic scenes; smooth gradient rendering.

Training details

140 photographs of public-domain Edo-period prints plus new woodblock-style illustrations by the creator, colour-matched to traditional mineral pigments.

Procedure. Trained as a low-rank adapter over wan 2.1 at ranks 32 and 64, fp16, batch size 4, cosine LR with a short warmup. Captions were written by hand so the trigger words map cleanly onto the intended look.

Bias, risks and limitations

  • Any Japanese text rendered is decorative and not real kanji.
  • Faces follow the stylised period convention rather than realistic anatomy.
  • Very saturated modern colours fall outside the trained palette.

License & provenance

Trained on public-domain prints and the creator's original woodblock-style art. Purchasing the commercial offer ($159.00) grants a commercial redistribution license for outputs; the personal offer ($19.00) is for non-commercial use. The adapter weights may not be resold or re-uploaded.
