Claymation Stop-Motion

Stop-motion clay — visible fingerprints, matte plasticine surfaces and that lovable handmade wobble.

Claymation Stop-Motion renders characters and props as if sculpted from plasticine on a miniature set: soft matte surfaces, tool marks and fingerprints in the clay, slightly uneven proportions, and the shallow tabletop lighting of a real stop-motion stage. It leans charming and tactile rather than slick.

This is a LoRA adapter, not a standalone model. Load it on top of a compatible wan 2.1 base checkpoint — it will not generate on its own.

Uses

Direct use. Character design, explainer and children's-content stills, and playful brand work that wants a handmade feel.

Out of scope. Realistic humans or sleek CGI — the clay texture is the entire look.

How to use

Load the adapter over your wan 2.1 checkpoint, then trigger with: claymation, clay_style

Recommended LoRA weight 0.85. 0.85 keeps the fingerprints readable; drop to 0.65 if the clay is overwhelming the character's silhouette.

• Works well for — character and mascot design; children's and explainer visuals; whimsical product mockups.
• Not suitable for — realistic portraits; high-gloss commercial CGI.

Training details

130 photographs of physical clay maquettes the creator sculpted and shot on a small stage, plus a few animated turntables for motion reference.

Procedure. Trained as a low-rank adapter over wan 2.1 at ranks 32 and 64, fp16, batch size 4, cosine LR with a short warmup. Captions were written by hand so the trigger words map cleanly onto the intended look.

Bias, risks and limitations

• Fine details (fingers, teeth) can smear into the clay — keep designs chunky.
• Backgrounds sometimes ignore the miniature-set scale and look full-size.
• Struggles with more than two characters in frame.

License & provenance

Trained on the creator's own photographed clay sculptures. Purchasing the commercial offer ($159.00) grants a commercial redistribution license for outputs; the personal offer ($27.00) is for non-commercial use. The adapter weights may not be resold or re-uploaded.
